I’m a visual artist, compelled to capture the wonders of the natural world and connect community through a range of mediums including paper, textiles, and print. My joy for the outdoors world is evident in the work I make, leaning into dreamscapes through the use of colour and texture. My works celebrate the treasures found in natural environments, and in creating them I hope to foster a deeper appreciation for it.
In Spring 2018, I initiated a program Print Power to host grant-funded workshops, as a means to explore trauma around sexual assault and domestic violence. This has been a catalyst for other community-centered projects such as a neighbourhood harvest that used interactive maps to connect people to surplus home-grown produce; a collaboration for a public mural celebrating Earth Day; and a Pattern Hunt to discover backyard urban and natural treasures. I find myself energised by the human connection in this work, valuing the process over the outcomes.
As a teaching artist, I like using screen printing workshops as a wide-ranging platform that can foster community, helping us to build a healthier society, as well as for the simple joy of getting other peoples hands messy. I’ve provided workshop experiences for the Arts Fund, Girls Rock, and Patagonia. I taught weekly beginner workshops for four years at Print Club London, as well as leading tailored workshops and live printing sessions for high profile clients in many different formats; sometimes out on the street, occasionally in dark bars, and once in the middle of a field at a festival.
If you would like to make something together, I’d love to hear from you! My CV is available on request : )
